Overview
Interleukin-15 (IL-15) is a pleiotropic cytokine with critical roles in both adaptive and innate immunity. It is produced by astrocytes, microglial cells, and other immune-related cells under inflammatory conditions. IL-15 drives the proliferation and survival of CD8⁺ memory T cells, enhances natural killer (NK) cell development and cytotoxicity, and can substitute for bone marrow microenvironmental signals in vitro. Unlike IL-2, IL-15 promotes mast cell proliferation via distinct receptor signaling mechanisms involving JAK2 and STAT5. Its unique biology underscores its importance in immune regulation and translational research in immunology, oncology, and infectious disease.
Key Features and Benefits
- Potent Bioactivity: ED₅₀ <0.1 ng/mL for T lymphocyte proliferation.
- High Purity and Low Endotoxin: Optimized for sensitive immunological assays.
- Broad Research Relevance: Suitable for studies of T cell biology, NK cell development, and tumor immunology.
- Stable Lyophilized Form: Maintains activity and long-term storage stability.
- Tag-Free Preparation: Preserves native structural and receptor-binding characteristics.
Reconstitution Instructions
To ensure optimal activity and performance:
- Centrifuge the vial: Briefly spin to collect all lyophilized material at the bottom.
- Reconstitute: Add sterile distilled water to a final concentration of ≥0.1 mg/mL.
- Mixing: Gently swirl or tap the vial until dissolved; do not vortex.
- Dilution: Prepare working aliquots in suitable buffer or culture medium.
- Storage: After reconstitution, store at 2–8°C for ≤1 month, or at –20°C for ≤6 months with carrier protein. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Quality Control (QC)
- Purity confirmed by SDS-PAGE
- Endotoxin quantified by LAL assay
