Overview

Fibroblast Growth Factor 1 (FGF1), also known as acidic FGF (aFGF), is a multifunctional signaling protein that plays a pivotal role in cell growth, angiogenesis, and tissue repair. While sharing receptor-binding properties with basic FGF (bFGF), FGF1 is generally less potent in equivalent bioassays but retains a broad spectrum of activities through FGF receptor-mediated pathways.

FGF1 influences diverse biological processes, from embryonic development to wound healing, and is a valuable tool for studying cellular proliferation, migration, and differentiation in both normal and pathological conditions. This recombinant form, expressed in E. coli, is designed for high activity and reproducibility in vitro.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Potent Biological Activity: Demonstrates ED₅₀ < 0.5 ng/mL in fibroblast proliferation assay.
  • Receptor Cross-Compatibility: Engages multiple FGF receptors, enabling versatile experimental applications.
  • High Purity & Low Endotoxin: Suitable for sensitive cellular and biochemical assays.
  • Consistent Performance: Batch-to-batch reproducibility supported by stringent QC testing.
  • Broad Research Utility: Applicable to studies in angiogenesis, regenerative medicine, and developmental biology.

Reconstitution Instructions

To ensure optimal protein stability and activity, follow these steps:

  1. Centrifuge the Vial: Briefly spin to collect all lyophilized material at the bottom.
  2. Reconstitute: Add sterile distilled water to achieve a final concentration of not less than 0.1 mg/mL.
  3. Mixing: Gently swirl or tap to fully dissolve the protein. Do not vortex.
  4. Dilution and Application: After reconstitution, dilute with appropriate buffers or media as needed.
  5. Storage: Store reconstituted solution at 2–8°C for up to 1 month, or –20°C for up to 6 months (preferably in working aliquots). Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Quality Control (QC)

  • Purity confirmed by SDS-PAGE (>95%)
  • Endotoxin measured by LAL assay (<1.0 EU/µg)
  • Bioactivity validated in mouse fibroblast proliferation assay
