Overview
Cardiotrophin-1 (CT-1) is a pleiotropic cytokine of the IL-6 family that includes IL6, IL11, LIF, OSM, CLC, and IL31. The full-length human CT-1 shares 79% amino acid sequence identity with murine CT-1 and lacks a canonical signal sequence. It is found at high levels in skeletal and cardiac muscle, as well as in the colon, ovary, prostate, liver, and pancreas, with lower expression in the lung, kidney, testis, and small intestine. Recombinant human CT-1 is expressed in E. coli and produced to high purity for consistent performance in bioassays and cytokine signaling research.
Key Features and Benefits
- Potent Bioactivity: Demonstrates ED₅₀ ≤ 0.5 ng/mL in TF-1 proliferation assays.
- High Purity & Low Endotoxin: >95% purity, <1.0 EU/µg endotoxin level for sensitive applications.
- Tag-Free Format: Preserves the native sequence for biologically relevant interactions.
- Stable Lyophilized Form: Enables long-term storage and reproducible reconstitution.
- Research-Grade Quality: Suitable for cytokine signaling and functional cell studies.
Reconstitution Instructions
To ensure optimal protein quality and activity:
- Briefly centrifuge the vial to collect all lyophilized material.
- Reconstitute with sterile 20 mM Tris buffer (pH 8.0) to 100 µg/mL containing ≥0.1% HSA or BSA.
- Gently swirl or tap the vial until dissolved; do not vortex.
- Dilute into aqueous buffers supplemented with 0.1–1.0% BSA for working solutions.
- Store aliquots under recommended conditions; avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Quality Control (QC)
- Purity confirmed by SDS-PAGE
- Endotoxin content measured by LAL assay
- Bioactivity verified via TF-1 proliferation assay (ED₅₀ ≤ 0.5 ng/mL)
