Overview

Beta-Nerve Growth Factor (β-NGF) is a critical neurotrophin that regulates neuronal growth, survival, and differentiation. It also plays a role in the immune system, acting as a growth and differentiation factor for B lymphocytes. β-NGF is a member of the cysteine-knot family, forming stable disulfide-linked homodimers.

Human β-NGF shares ~90% amino acid sequence homology with rodent NGF, allowing for cross-species applications in neurobiology research. In vitro, β-NGF has been shown to promote the survival and differentiation of neuronal cell populations. This recombinant protein, produced in E. coli, is designed for high activity, purity, and consistency, making it suitable for diverse studies in neuroscience and immunology.

Key Features and Benefits

  • High Biological Activity: Supports neuronal differentiation and maintenance in vitro.
  • Immunomodulatory Properties: Enhances B cell survival and function.
  • High Purity & Low Endotoxin: >95% purity, <1.0 EU/µg endotoxin, suitable for sensitive assays.
  • Cross-Species Utility: High sequence homology with mouse and rat NGF.
  • Stable Lyophilized Form: Convenient long-term storage and reliable reconstitution.

Reconstitution Instructions

To maintain optimal quality and bioactivity, please follow these guidelines:

  1. Centrifuge the Vial: Briefly spin to collect all lyophilized material at the bottom.
  2. Reconstitute: Add sterile distilled water to a final concentration of ≥0.1 mg/mL.
  3. Mixing: Gently swirl or tap the vial until fully dissolved. Do not vortex.
  4. Dilution: Prepare working solutions by diluting in appropriate buffer or culture medium.
  5. Storage: Store reconstituted protein at 2–8°C for ≤1 month, or at –20°C for ≤6 months in aliquots. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Quality Control (QC)

  • Purity confirmed by SDS-PAGE
  • Endotoxin quantified by LAL assay
  • Bioactivity validated using established neuronal survival and differentiation assays
