Overview
Recombinant Human Epidermal Growth Factor-Like Domain 7 (EGFL7) is a 31 kDa secreted protein that contains an Emilin-like (EMI) domain and two EGF-like domains, one of which binds calcium. This structural composition supports its capacity to self-assemble and integrate into the extracellular matrix, facilitating cell adhesion and motility. EGFL7 is primarily expressed in developing endothelial cells, as well as in primordial germ cells and certain neurons. While its expression diminishes in postnatal endothelial cells, it can be significantly upregulated in response to tissue injury, correlating with enhanced angiogenic activity. This recombinant version is produced in insect cells and maintains functional binding activity to human NOTCH1.
Key Features and Benefits
- Validated Activity: Confirmed binding to human NOTCH1 in functional ELISA.
- High Purity and Low Endotoxin: >95% purity by SDS-PAGE; endotoxin level <1.0 EU/µg.
- Biological Relevance: Mimics ECM protein behavior, supporting cell adhesion and motility.
- Application Flexibility: Suitable for studies in angiogenesis, vascular biology, and ECM-protein interactions.
- Stable Format: Lyophilized for long-term storage and easy reconstitution.
Reconstitution Instructions
To prepare for use, follow these procedures carefully:
- Centrifuge the Vial: Briefly spin to ensure powder is collected at the bottom.
- Reconstitute: Add distilled water to achieve a concentration ≥ 0.1 mg/mL.
- Dissolution: Swirl gently to dissolve completely. Do not vortex.
- Dilution and Application: Dilute with desired buffer or culture medium as needed.
- Storage: Store reconstituted solution at 2–8°C for up to 1 month, or –20°C for up to 6 months with a suitable carrier protein. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Quality Control (QC)
- Purity confirmed by SDS-PAGE (>95%)
- Endotoxin level determined by LAL assay (<1.0 EU/µg)
- Bioactivity validated by NOTCH1 binding in ELISA
